Nail Studio Etiquette: A Considered Guide

The Shade Team Posted by The Shade Team in Nail Care 1 min read

Good etiquette at a nail studio isn’t about rules for their own sake — it’s about making the experience calm and seamless for you and your specialist alike. Most of it is wonderfully simple, and a little courtesy makes every visit better. Here’s a considered guide to nail studio etiquette.

Arrive a few minutes early

Arriving five minutes ahead lets you settle in, remove your coat, and begin unhurried. If you’re running late, a quick message is always appreciated — it helps the studio keep every appointment running on time.

Come prepared

Bring inspiration if you have it, and know roughly what you’d like — though your specialist is always happy to guide you. If it’s your first dry manicure, there’s nothing to prep; simply come as you are. Any questions about our services are answered on the FAQ page before you arrive.

During your service

Keep your hands relaxed and still, mention any discomfort right away, and try to limit phone use so your specialist can work with precision. Conversation is welcome — and so is comfortable silence. This is your time to slow down.

A note on tipping

Tipping is customary in New York for personal services; 15 to 20 percent is a typical guide, in cash or through the studio’s payment system. It’s a simple, gracious way to thank a specialist for meticulous work.

The considerate guest

The best appointments are a small collaboration. Arrive relaxed, communicate openly, and let us take care of the rest.
