How to Prepare for Your Nail Appointment

The Shade Team Posted by The Shade Team in Nail Care 1 min read

A little preparation makes your nail appointment smoother and your results better — and the good news is it takes almost no effort. Here’s how to prepare for your nail appointment so you get the most from every visit.

In the days before

Keep your nails and the skin around them hydrated, and resist picking at cuticles or old polish — let your specialist handle removal. If you’re booking a dry manicure, there’s no special prep at all; simply come as you are.

Right before you arrive

Skip heavy hand cream just before your appointment, as residue can affect how polish adheres. Bring any inspiration photos, and wear or pack open-toe shoes if you’re having a pedicure.

Know what you want (roughly)

You don’t need every detail decided, but a sense of length, shape, and finish helps. Not sure? That’s exactly what the consultation is for — and our guide to what to expect on your first visit walks you through it.

Give yourself time

Arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in rather than rush. A calm start makes the whole experience more enjoyable — and gives your specialist time to get your shape just right.

Prepared and at ease

Come relaxed, come hydrated, and leave the rest to us.

After your visit, follow our gel manicure aftercare tips to keep it pristine.
