At most salons, anything beyond polish costs extra. At The Shade, the elevated touches are simply part of the visit — and that includes red light on every treatment. But our red light isn’t an off-the-shelf add-on. We built the machine ourselves — and patented it.
A red light machine we patented
Rather than buy a generic device, we developed our own red light machine and use it across every service. Owning the technology is what lets us include red light on every visit as a standard part of the experience, never a costly upgrade — and it’s engineered specifically for the way we work.
Built-in dust extraction — cleaner air for everyone
Here’s the part we’re proudest of. Our machine has a built-in vacuum that captures nail dust right at the source. Shaping and refining nails creates fine dust, and in most salons that dust drifts into the air — the air technicians breathe all day, and the air you breathe during your visit. Our extraction pulls it away as it’s created, protecting our technicians and keeping the air around you cleaner. It’s a piece of engineering with a real impact on how healthy and comfortable the studio feels.
Included on every service
Like everything that makes a Shade visit feel elevated, red light is included — never an upsell. It’s part of our all-inclusive philosophy: luxury is the baseline, so you never have to choose between the basic version of your service and the good one.
The experience
Beyond the engineering, it simply makes the appointment feel better — a warm, soothing element that turns a routine manicure into a genuine moment of calm. Many guests find it’s the part of the visit that helps them slow down and exhale.
Part of a bigger philosophy
Our patented red light machine sits alongside our lymphatic finishing treatment and signature face mask as part of what’s always included at The Shade. Cleaner air, a more considered experience, and nothing to upgrade — that’s the point.
The Shade’s red light and lymphatic finishes are a relaxing part of our experience and are not a medical treatment.
